SUP with your Pup

That's right I've got a paddle board!! Cheers. I'm so freakin excited about spring. I've been wanting one for a while, something to do with Missy. Yes, of course Piper too. Since I've got it I've been reading everything about it living it through the words till I can actually paddle board with Missy.

Rules of SUP with your Pup

1. Get your dog comfortable with the board out of water.
2. Practice sitting and standing on the board with your dog
3. Now take the board on the water. Practice in shallow water and have someone keep the board from moving around too much. Go slowly, don't move too fast. Give lots of treats and praise(this is suppose to be fun)
4. Get on the board with your dog.
6. take off

Safety Precautions

It's recommended to fit your dog with a PFD. Yes, most dogs are excellent swimmers, but they can go too far and get too tired before making it back. Or they could hit there head when falling off.

Take the leash off. A leash can get stuck on your on something or get wrapped around your dog injuring her/him self.

Before Paddle boarding with your dog, your dog should be comfortable with water.

No, No, No!!

Grr... after having Piper for four almost five months, she still is getting in the trash and on the counters! It's so freakin frustrating! The major problem is my family, when my mom isn't home I have Piper stay with me and I watch her. I always make sure she doesn't go in the kitchen unless I'm in there... Problem is when I'm in my room and Piper is out with my mom, dad, and brothers they don't keep her out of the dang kitchen! They just say she should no better and blah blah blah.... Well they are old school training so if she gets in the trash on there watch she gets yelled at an popped. I just can't think of how to keep her off the counters and out of the trash. So far the counter surfing has gotten better, because I try keeping the counters clear of food and dishes, and also keep it wiped off therefore she doesn't have a reason to get on the counters. The dang trash is a totally different story it's self rewarding, I just can not think of how to get her to stop. I'm at my last straw and have decided to hide so I can see the trash, but not by Piper and right when she noses the lid I will use an air horn and as soon as she looks in my direction I'll hide it behind my back, it's better than everyone popping and yelling at her. I really hope this works. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to try them as long as it doesn't involve, hitting, yelling, or hurting Piper in any way.

Bring on the sun

Ahh... today was such a nice break from the 20, 30 and 40F weather. I really do not like being cold therefore me and winter aren't friends. Though the weather doesn't usually bother Missy or Piper. If it gets in the 20s Piper will get cold because her hair is so short. Anyway... today was 60F and the sun was out. Man me and the girls felt good, we really took in some sun. We went on a walk on my trail than walk down to the creek in my neighborhood. I already have spring fever. During the spring and summer me and my family will be going on hikes, and camping, we will try and rotate the girls. I say try because if it's a place known for being crowded I won't bring Missy because she's dog reactive.
