Rainy Day

Took the girls on a walk today. The ground was soaked from rain. Miss Piper being her weird self kept trying to lick the water off the road. There were quite a few puddles and Missy walked through them, but not Piper she does not like puddles, wet ground, or rain. BUT oddly enough she LOVED the wet dirt. By the end of the walk her nose was red along with her paws.

Piper has lost her offleash privlages

Okay so Piper has been allowed off leash in our unfenced yard after maybe 1 week of having her. She was good about not leaving the yard, but in the past 2 weeks she has left the property 3 times. Before that she had left the backyard twice.
Well today I let her out to go potty right when her feet hit the porch she was gone I called after her, but she completely ignored me and ran to the neighbors. My brother went and got her for me. I was so freakin mad at her for leaving the yard. Right when my brother brought her in she was put in time out for ten minutes mostly for me to cool off. So know we are working on recall every single day. And we will start working on invisible boundaries once she gets good at recall. Until she has a solid recall she will Not be allowed outside without a leash.
You may wonder why on earth would I have let her off leash in the first place without teaching this. Well Missy never had to be leashed in the yard, she never ran off, well once maybe twice. She would stop dead in her tracks when I said "Uh Uh" or "No Missy" in a loud stern voice. Missy was the same age as Piper is now 6 months. Piper could care less if I call her in an exciting voice or use a stern loud voice, if she want to leave she is going to.

Daily Learner

Okay so the puppy know let's me know she needs to potty by going to the door and whining. This makes me have to listen very carefully for her. She has had one accident in the past three days, but that was because my brother wasn't listening to her when she was trying to tell him she needed to go out.
She is doing great with staying out of the kitchen when we're eating. I usually get up about 3 times to put her back where she is suppose to be.
Walking. She is great at not pulling and the few times she does I stop and call her to me so she loosens the leash then we continue to walk. Her biggest problems on walks it passing people and dogs. She wants to go say hi. If I'm walking away from them she plants her feet and if they are in front she tries dragging me. To get her moving I use treats and a high peppy voice.
Tricks. Okay so I am teaching her "Weave" and "Roll over" she is doing pretty good with "Weave" but she gets really crazy when trying to do "Roll over". I believe she will have it down better in 2 days.

First day of School

Today was the first day of my Senior Year of High school and Piper's(Puppy) first time being crated for so long she did great! Right when I woke up I took her to go potty which she did. Than I feed her and allowed her to wonder around the house while I was getting ready. After I finished getting ready I took her and Missy on a ten minute walk, no it's not long, but its the best I can do. I didn't crate her until I had to leave. I came home and she did Not use the poddy in the crate!

A Day Out

Today me and my family went to a walking trail that has a manmade waterfall and a natural creek. My mom allowed puppy girl to come, but not Missy. PG had fun getting in the shallow water and exploring the different sights and sounds. Afterwards we went to Five Below a store. We were told that she could only come in if we would hold her. We were like "Yeah we'll just have someone stay outside with her" Than the lady said let me go look at her, she see's her and tells us not she can't come in because of her breed. I was not happy. Lastly we went to to Heritage Center and walked around. She was able to persuade two people to pet her.  Altogether PG had fun and it was good for her to go to a new environment with new people.

Hi

Hi, everyone I'm Danielle and I'm 18. I live with my parents, 3 brothers and currently three dogs; Missy a 7 year old Border Collie/Lab, Chase a 15 year old Lab/Dalmation and puppy a 6 month old American Bulldog/Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier. Missy is my personal dog and I've had her since she was 6 month old. I found her wondering around a walking trail and no one ever claimed her. She will move with me in about 2-3 years. Chase is the family dog and we've had him since he was 8 weeks old. Puppy was found on Sunday July 28 in my neighborhood by my brothers. We are looking for her owners. If the owners don't come forward we might keep her. I'm crossing my fingers that we do.

And know for my little animals. There is 2 cats Sophie a ? year old Korat, Scout a 2 year old DSH, 2 turtles Delilah a 2 year old yellow belly, Samson a 3 month old yellow belly turtle and my Parakeet Toby who is 7 years old.  Sophie was a stray cat who had been living under our house for a week so I started to feed her and she has stuck around for the past few years. Yes, I did look for her owners. Scout was from the pound, I got him in January. My mom bought Delilah two years ago on our Florida vacation and Samson this year on our Florida vacation. My mom bought Toby for me 6 years and a couple months ago for Christmas.

Okay so I'm making this blog to write about, training the dogs, going places with them, the goofy and annoying this they do. I will also post plenty of pictures.
